Privacy Policy

Dos Avocados LLC (dba Dos Avocados Media; “Dos Avocados,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) Effective date: August 1, 2026

This policy explains what information dosavocados.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us and we’ll explain it further

1. Who we are

Dos Avocados LLC is a documentary-style media production and storytelling consultancy based in Durham, North Carolina. We work with small businesses across North Carolina, including the Research Triangle, Charlotte, Asheville, and Wilmington, the United States, and around the globe.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

When you fill out the contact form on our site (built on Contact Form 7), we collect:

  • Name
  • Company (optional)
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional)
  • What you’re interested in (story consulting, video, photography, drone work, photo booth, or “not sure yet”)
  • How you heard about us

When you book a discovery call, we collect your name, email, and any details you enter to schedule, through Fantastical and cal.com.

When you email or call us directly, we keep a record of that conversation the same way any business would.

If you become a client and pay for services, our payment processors, Square, and where used PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, collect payment and billing information directly. We don’t store your card numbers ourselves.

Information collected automatically

Our site uses Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to understand traffic and how visitors use the site, and Rank Math to manage SEO and search visibility. These tools may log technical details such as your browser type, approximate location, and the pages you view. See the Cookies section below.

Photos, video, and likeness

If you or someone from your business appears on camera for a Dos Avocados shoot, we ask you to sign a model release before we use that content. This section explains, at a high level, what that release covers on the data privacy side. The release itself, not this policy, governs the specific rights.

3. Sensitive information collected through model releases

Our model release form asks people who appear on camera to optionally share information like gender identity, race or ethnicity, and other descriptive detail, used only to help tag and describe content for licensing and search purposes. This is voluntary. Nobody has to answer it to appear in our work.

Because this touches on what privacy law calls sensitive or “special category” data, a few things apply specifically to it:

  • It’s optional, and leaving it blank doesn’t affect the shoot or the release.
  • You can ask us to stop using it, or withdraw consent for it, at any time by contacting us, unless it’s already been published or used with your permission.
  • We don’t use it for anything beyond describing and licensing the content itself.

Biometric data. Some of what we capture on camera, meaning a person’s face or physical likeness in a photo or video, can be considered biometric data under certain state laws. Our model release includes a specific waiver covering this. If you have questions about how your likeness is used, contact us directly. [Biometric data laws vary significantly by state, Illinois and Texas in particular have strict rules, worth a specific look from your attorney given you work with clients nationwide.]

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and discovery call requests
  • Understand which services people are interested in, so we can serve clients better
  • Send project-related communication if you become a client
  • Deliver, tag, and license the photo and video content we produce
  • Improve the website and our marketing, in a general, aggregated sense

We do not sell your information. We do not use it for anything beyond running and improving Dos Avocados.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business:

  • Fantastical and cal.com, for scheduling discovery calls
  • Contact Form 7, which routes contact form submissions to us through our website host
  • Square, and where applicable PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App, for client payments
  • Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats, and Rank Math, for site traffic and search performance

We don’t share your information with anyone else, and we don’t let these providers use it for their own marketing.

We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena.

6. Cookies

Our site uses cookies, small files stored on your device, through Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to understand how visitors use the site, and through Rank Math for search and SEO functionality. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may work less well without them.

7. How long we keep information

We keep contact form submissions and client records for as long as we have an active relationship with you, plus a reasonable period afterward for our own business and tax records. Content and model releases are kept as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in the release. You can ask us to delete information at any time, and we will, unless we’re required to keep it for legal reasons or it’s already been published with your permission.

8. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Ask what information we have about you
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time, using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us directly
  • Withdraw consent for use of sensitive descriptive data tied to a model release, as described in Section 3
  • Ask us not to use client media in our portfolio, even where a release was signed, by contacting us

If you live outside North Carolina, additional state privacy rights may apply depending on where you live. Email us and we’ll walk you through what applies to you.

9. Children’s privacy

Our site and services are meant for business owners and adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. Where a minor appears on camera, our model release requires a parent or guardian to sign on their behalf.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, but no method of storage or transmission online is completely secure. If you’re sending us anything sensitive, a phone call or a conversation in person is always an option.

11. Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our practices change, and we’ll update the effective date at the top when we do. For meaningful changes, we may also note it directly on the site.
