Documentary Style Video Production

Documentary Video

Films that sound like you, not a commercial.

Brand anthems, founder stories, testimonials, recap films. Documentary craft applied to small-business storytelling.

What this actually is

We sit down, we listen, we ask the questions you wish more people asked. Then we film the moments that make your work make sense — the hands at work, the customer mid-sentence, the quiet scene of your storefront at golden hour.

What you get back is not “content.” It’s a film. Something you’ll still be proud of two years from now.

A good documentary-style video? It’s one of the most powerful ways to tell a story—because it’s human. Whether it’s for a person, a small business, or a big company, it captures something that written words or still images just can’t fully express: presence, emotion, voice, vulnerability, truth.

For people—it’s a way to be heard. To show their journey, their struggles, their why. A good documentary doesn’t just showcase facts—it brings out feeling. It helps others feel who you are and what you care about. That kind of connection is what draws people in, inspires them, and stays with them long after the video ends.

For companies, especially purpose-driven ones, it’s a chance to peel back the curtain and let people see the heart behind the brand. Your story becomes more than marketing—it becomes meaningful. Customers, clients, collaborators—they don’t just want to know what you do, they want to know why you do it. What you believe in. Who you are when no one’s watching. A well-crafted video can say all of that, without ever feeling like a pitch.

And when it’s done with care and intention, it creates this ripple effect. It builds trust. It builds belonging. It invites people to feel like they’re part of something.

So yeah—good documentary production? It’s not just storytelling. It’s soul work. And when it’s done right, it changes the way people see you—and maybe even the way you see yourself.

Questions you probably have

Do I need to know what I want to say first?

Nope. That’s our job. If you knew exactly what to say you’d be the filmmaker.

How long is a session day?

Most projects need a half day to a full day on location. We’re efficient — documentary sessions aren’t 12-hour commercial sets.

What does this cost?

Brand films typically start around TODO_FLOOR. We scope every project to fit; the discovery call is where we figure out what you actually need.

Do you write scripts too?

Yes — see Story Scripts. Often it’s bundled into the video project at no extra charge if it’s helping us shoot.
